Dear Families,
Happy October, Griffins! 🍁 Fall is in full swing, and with it comes excitement and lots of learning. Our students are settling into routines, building strong classroom communities, and tackling new challenges every day. Thank you for partnering with us to make sure your child is here on time and ready to learn—attendance makes a huge difference! This month, we’re continuing to focus on both academic growth 📚 and positive behavior ⭐ while celebrating students who are showing respect, responsibility, and kindness throughout the school. As the weather cools down, please remember that students will continue to have outside recess, so be sure to send them with a coat each day. 🧥 I’m so proud of the hard work I see from our students and staff daily, and I’m grateful for your support in helping us make West Hills a place where every child can thrive. 💙
Warmly,
Principal Powell

Hello my name is Gary Lewis (Nurse Gary). I am from the midwest. I live in Saint Joseph, MO (home of the Pony Express). It is located just North of Kansas City. I am a Kansas City Chiefs fan. I have worked in healthcare my whole life. Started as an athletic trainer in college. I then joined the USAF and became an Air Force trained Flight Medic. After that, I received my Paramedic License and did that job for almost 12 years. I graduated from college with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and worked in the Emergency Room and Interventional Radiology. I hold a Masters Degree in Healthcare Administration for the University of Missouri. After several nursing jobs I now am working as a Travel Nurse for the Bremerton School District. I love the PNW and I am very happy to be working with all of the students and faculty here at BSD.
